Wight Vodka and the Island Sailing Club’s 120th Anniversary Regatta

Cowes, England

The Island Sailing Club celebrated their 120th anniversary in style this weekend by hosting a fabulous regatta with 34 entries, with Wight Vodka trophies and signature red baseball caps recognizing the class winners.

Bill Pimlott, Commodore of the Island Sailing Club, commented, “The feedback on our Anniversary Regatta from the competitors and our members was superb. Wight Vodka’s unique champagne bucket trophies were fully appreciated by our class winners, and the Wight Vodka baseball caps given to the winning crews were enjoyed by all. Overall, it was a great weekend and people want to sign up for next year’s event already.”

Chris Thomas, the Sailing Secretary at the ISC, was energized by the success of the racing and the social events. “Our committee wanted to do something special to commemorate the 120th anniversary of our club,” Chris said. “Launching the inaugural Anniversary Regatta and partnering with Wight Vodka in a long-term relationship has proven to be a successful combination. The trophies and the red caps will be treasured by the winners long into the future, but the party on Saturday night saw over 200 people thoroughly enjoying the Wight Cup cocktails on our deck. Thanks to Ritu and her crew at 50° North!”

The winning skippers of each class include Roger Swinney’s Bolero, Ayanami, in the IRC Class, Terry Rowe’s Corby 25, Drakes Drum, in the ISCRS Class, Thom D’arcy’s Quest in the XOD Class, and Phil Devereux’s Pelican Racing 6 in the SB3 Class. Many congratulations to these winning teams!

Ritu Manocha, owner of 50° North, the company behind the Wight Vodka brand, said “Working with Chris Thomas (Sailing Secretary), Bill Pimlott (ISC Commodore) and Linda Fair (Rear Commodore) was a delight. Being present for the prize giving on Sunday was great, and I can see how the Wight Vodka ISC Anniversary Regatta Cup will become a tradition for many years to come.”
