Wight Vodka Wins Silver at the Cannes Vodka Masters

The ‘newcomer’ Wight Vodka went up against the industry heavyweights at the Vodka Masters competition in Cannes and came away with a coveted silver medal in the Super-Premium Design & Packaging Category.

How hot is that?

“That’s very hot!” said Ritu Manocha, the enthusiastic owner of 50° North and the Wight Vodka brand.

“To have launched on the south coast of England just a few years ago and gain this notoriety amongst the world’s leading vodka brands definitely charges us up!” said Ritu. “Every time we present a bottle of WV to someone, from an SB3 sailor on the Solent to a Superyacht owner in Costa Smeralda, the reaction has been consistent from the very beginning; people love the bottle and people love the taste. This is a fabulous British vodka!”

The announcement on Wight Vodka was made during the awards ceremony held at the Carlton InterContinental Hotel’s Beach Bar on the 19th October. Over 120 entries made this year’s Vodka Masters the most competitive in history, with entrants the world over including the well-known stalwarts hailing from Russia and Poland. In the end, the Design & Packaging category was very heavily contested as the judges fully realise the importance of design in the marketing mix and overall success of a brand.

Ritu continued “It’s no secret that we’re a small, entrepreneurial company competing in an absolutely giant marketplace with corporations that have multi-million pound marketing budgets. When we designed Wight Vodka’s image, we were literally on a boat with a pencil and paper. After a few martinis (and numerous erasure marks), the final branding was created; it just looked right to us! We’re now having a fabulous time building the brand and with the validation of the Vodka Masters judges, know that we’re onto something that will make its way to the world’s hottest ports, bars and regattas.”
